Dear Eastridge Family,
The Great Missionary Hudson Taylor wrote, “All of God’s giants
of the faith have been weak men who did great things for God because they
reckoned on God being with them.” When
we think about Christmas we should think of the coming of Jesus, God with us,
Emmanuel.
God chose not to leave us alone in our sin and darkness. God has come to rescue us from our slavery to
sin. God has come to bring
salvation. God has come to give us life.
God does not come to take us out of the world. Instead God wants us to be a light for
others. God wants us to share the Good
News with a lost and hurting world. This
is a task too big if it were left up to us alone to complete. God does not leave us alone. He has promised to go with us as we share
this Good News with others.
Joshua 1:9 (NIV) “Have
I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be
discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) “…Therefore go and make disciples of
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And
surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Communion
This Sunday we will celebrate communion together as a
family. This is always a special time to
remember the blessings of Jesus joining humanity to be with us…Emmanuel…God
with us.
Pinata
Following the worship service, the children will celebrate with
a pinata.

Take,
Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire
will--All I have and call my own.
Whatever
I have or hold, you have given me.
I
return it all to you and surrender it wholly to be governed by your will.
Give
me only your love and your grace
and
I am rich enough and ask for nothing more.
-St.
Ignatius, from the end of the Spiritual Exercises
Too
often as Christians we profess allegiance to Jesus but celebrate his birth with
orgy of materialism. – Mike Slaughter
