Enote From Pastor Eva 4-26-19

Enote From Pastor Eva 4-26-19

God bless you, Eastridge family! On behalf of Pastor Andy, Pastor Rick, and myself, I want to start off by thanking each of you who participated before, during, and after the Easter celebration! Thank you for praying, fasting, inviting, handing out leaflets, filling eggs with candy, cleaning outside and inside the temple, helpingwith breakfast, washing dishes after breakfast, etc.! We know that God will reward you greatly. Speaking of Easter Sunday, what a blessing we received during breakfast, the worship service, the powerful message of God, and seeing the happy faces of the children next to the adults in search of candy! Thank God that His presence was with us in the midst of this glorious celebration! But, now what? What lies ahead of us who hear the message of hope and transformation? And for us — His disciples
—what will happen in the following days, and months before celebrating Easter in 2020? It is crucial to meditate on this question, because it is very easy to fall into the custom or tradition of simply celebrating another Easter. The truth is that some of those who heard the message and enjoyed a special Easter service and had a time of fellowship with family and friends will probably not return to church until Easter next year. That is why I invite you in the name of Jesus; so that, together, we reflect on the powerful message of hope Easter brings us — so that it does not become reduced to just another celebration on the Christian calendar. No way! We disciples of Jesus are called to celebrate and share Easter every day in our daily life by being a reflection of the love of our Savior to all those around us and, in that way, fulfill the great commission. Being the hands and feet of the risen Christ, embracing the helpless, the anguished, the needy. Visiting the sick, the widow, the single mother or father, the incarcerated, and the lonely people in nursing homes. Sharing food with the one who does not have any, adopting the children of our congregation who, for different reasons, do not have their father or mother in these moments with them. Yes! Come on! Lets share the good news to our biological family, as well as our family in faith, our coworkers, our friends, and our neighbors! Do not hesitate, do not fear! And with love and courage, share the treasure that we, in the risen Jesus, have reached. As Jesus said: "Let us go and make disciples in all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to keep all the things that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you every day, until the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28: 19-20)

ANNOUNCEMENTS
* Tomorrow, Saturday, April 27 - we will be attending a Spanish seminar about the principles of Jesus in the fulfillment of the mission. Taught by Dr. Roberto Hudgson-Multicultural Director of EE. UU And Canada. The seminar will be from 10 am to 3 pm in Pratt; so we will be leaving Eastridge at 8:30 a.m. in the church van. If you are interested in attending please contact brother Miguel Cruz or pastor Eva.

* This Sunday, April 28 - We remind all members of Eastridge that during the worship service they will be able to vote to elect the leaders of the new ecclesiastical year. And to the entire congregation, members and non-members alike, we ask for your support in prayers so that God may be guiding us while we choose the new leaders. If you are not yet a member, we encourage you to consider making the decision to become a member of our church so that next year you can participate in the voting. For that to occur, we invite you to take the membership classes that will be taught starting Sunday, May 19th. Here at Eastridge we believe that membership is a mutual commitment before God; as the marriage that commits itself before God to live together under His blessing and Lordship. With the sole purpose of being a team and together fulfilling His will in our lives through the gifts and talents He has given us.

* May 5th after the worship service we will recognize our High School graduate Lydia Dages with a small reception

* Thank you to everyone who collaborated with your special Easter offering. And if for some reason it was not possible to give His offering, it is not too late; you can still give it this Sunday and thus be part of the global mission to which God has called us

Don't Miss Out on the Good Times

Friday, April 12, 2019

Dear Eastridge Family,

Just a reminder tomorrow so you don’t miss out on the fun.  We are asking everyone who is able to join us at the church at 10am.  We will be filling our plastic Easter Eggs with candy and doing some cleaning and small repairs to get ready for the most important week of the Christian year.  We still need some more candy if you have not brought yours to the church yet.  Stephanie has some meat cooking to share for lunch with all our volunteers.

Our Holy Week schedule includes:
  • Wednesday, April 17 instead of meeting to pray in the sanctuary, we will be praying as we walk in our neighborhood and distribute Easter Invitations flyers.
  • Good Friday is April 19. We will be remembering the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.  Our church will be open from 12 p.m. for anyone who can come to pray. We will have a service at 7pm and we will receive Communion as well.
  • Sunday 21 we will be celebrating Easter! We will not have Sunday school, because we will have a breakfast from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. This is a great opportunity to invite your friends and family to hear the good news of salvation!
  • Following the Easter Worship Celebration, we will have an Easter Egg Hunt for the children.
  • We will also receive the Easter Offering for missions.  The Nazarene Church supports over 700 missionaries around the world in 162 different countries.
