Dear
Eastridge Church
We
have been blessed at Eastridge with a number of new people coming to our
worship services and small groups. It is
much more exciting to be a part of a growing church than to be a part of one
that is dying. As a pastor it is
important that we are having the right kind of growth. The truth is even if we have a growing
church, we cannot automatically conclude everything is good. As a pastor I ask myself, do the lives of the
people of Eastridge look like the lives of people we see in scripture? That’s the goal post we should be going after.
I’ve
heard Dallas Willard say that every church should be able to answer two
questions: First, what is our plan for making disciples? Second, does our plan work?
Do
you have a plan for your life? What
steps are you taking to become a disciple of Jesus? The next question you need to ask is, “How is
my plan working?” Does your life look
like the lives of the people you see in Scripture?
This
is one reason why we have a church wide campaign to read through the New
Testament. The plan includes reading the
Scripture but also coming together to discuss and pray about what we read. These are important habits for all disciples
of Jesus.
I
look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday
