Dear Eastridge Family,
This weekend we will celebrate America’s Independence from the tyrannical King of England. God has been good to America and we have been blessed as a nation. This blessing did not come because we are better. This blessing has come because we humbled ourselves before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This blessing came because we have attempted to obey God’s Word not just as individuals but also as a nation.
You don’t need to be a prophet to recognize the need for a revival in America. We have turned our back on God and His Word. It is time for God’s people to humble themselves and repent. It is time for God’s people to go in prayer and intercede for a lost and dying world.
In the movie The Patriot, Benjamin Martin's sister-in-law attempted to comfort him, defending his initial decision not to fight the British. "You have done nothing for which to be ashamed," she said.
Martin's powerful and poignant response was, "I have done nothing. For that I am ashamed."
God forbid this would become the tragic epitaph of believers in America. May we, like Martin, awaken to the cause and fight the spiritual battle that lies before us.
Men’s Prayer Breakfast
Saturday morning at 7:30am we will gather in the Fellowship Hall for a time of prayer, fellowship and food. All men are invited to join us. Todd Hunter is sharing the devotional this month and Enrique Vargas is bringing breakfast.
District Assembly
Kansas District Assembly will be held July 10-12, 2016 at Wichita First Church of the Nazarene. On Monday morning we will have the missionary convention and Tuesday will be our church assembly with pastor’s reports from across the Kansas district.
Missionary Speaker Dave and Kim Hane - Sunday morning July 31
Dave and Kim Hane are missionaries with the Church of the Nazarene and serve in Singapore in the Asia-Pacific regional office. Dave and Kim were first appointed as missionaries in 1991 and were assigned to the regional office, then located in Manila, Philippines. In 2006, they moved with the regional office team to the current location in Singapore.
Dave serves as the Regional Personnel coordinator and JESUS Film coordinator. He is also coordinator of AsiaServe, a program designed to place more English speaking Nazarene school teachers and administrators in strategic countries on the region.
In addition to being a full-time mom, Kim assists in regional office duties as needed. Dave and Kim are also involved in ministry to international students studying in Singapore and serve as pastor coordinators for a church plant.
The Hanes have two children. Jonathan will be starting his senior year at Southern Nazarene University in August 2016, and Joy will be entering 9th grade in Singapore.
Box tops
We have a box in the entryway to collect box tops and Campbell soup labels. If you have been collecting them please bring them to the church and we will send them off to Sun Valley Indian School to help purchase equipment, including a van. (Please make sure you bring the whole Campbell’s label, the UPC code is needed).
