Dear Eastridge Family,
Happy New Year! I love
New Year’s Day as it marks a day of new beginnings and holds new possibilities
and opportunities in our lives and in our church. As we start a New Year let me encourage you
to consider how you might grow in your faith.
As a pastor I am concerned that the Eastridge family is growing in our
faith and walk with Jesus.
Let me ask, “What are you doing to grow in your faith in 2016?”
The New Year is a great time to take a
step forward in growing in your faith. Have
you considered some of the spiritual disciplines? The spiritual disciplines are habits that we
use to grow our faith. Maybe you want to
do a better job of reading the Bible this year, or you want to spend more time
in prayer or maybe you want to disciple someone. The New Year is a great time to start implementing
those habits.
Tomorrow is the day we have set aside to gather and worship
Jesus together. If you want to grow your
faith this is the first place I would recommend each of us start. Tomorrow I plan to share a message from
Philippians 3:13-14 “Brothers and
sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I
do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on
toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in
Christ Jesus.”
I want to ask a question tomorrow, if you had to summarize
your life in just six words what would they be?
I think the Apostle Paul might use these words, “Forgetting what is
behind pressing on.” Join us tomorrow
and we will consider what these words mean.
I am looking forward to seeing you all on the first Lord’s Day
of 2016,
Pastor Andy
